What's to Look Forward To?

A look at the numbers for 2011 will show that there was job growth. Texas itself added 226,000 jobs through the month of November. That is an increase of 2.2 percent from the previous year. However, the state also saw a population increase. This combination led to the high 8.1 percent unemployment for the state in November.

What about next year? According to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, there will be job growth in the state. However, that growth will be lower than the last year. The Fed predicts that the area will see job growth between 1.5 and 2 percent in the year to come. Factors such as a reduction in the number of employees being hired by the government and a considerable slowdown in the number of exports leaving the city due to the concerns about the financial situation in Europe.
