Numbers of new jobs are soaring in Texas these days. In March alone, there were 37,200 new jobs alone added to the state, lowering the unemployment rate by a full tenth of a percent—which may not sound like much, but with that many people affected, it’s definitely an improvement. The rate of joblessness in the state is now at 8.1 percent, down from the previous month’s 8.2 percent.
Even better news—this marked six straight months in a row of job growth in the state. Ever since October, the jobless rate continues to dwindle in the state—slowly but surely. It looks like professional and business services are growing the fastest, with hospitality and leisure close behind. Other areas that saw growth included mining, logging, manufacturing, and construction.
